Beyond Meat, a plant-based food company, suspended its chief operating officer on Tuesday after he was accused of a violent road rage incident at the University of Arkansas.

According to a preliminary police report obtained by NBC affiliate KNWA of Fayetteville, Ramsey struck a motorist and bit his nose so hard that it cut his flesh. According to the report, that account was based on observations and information from the arresting officer, witnesses, and the victim.

The California-based corporation announced in a statement that COO Doug Ramsey, 53, has been suspended effective immediately; a senior vice president will temporarily replace his duties.

Ramsey did not react to a comment request submitted to Beyond Meat’s public relations representatives.

According to the sheriff’s office, Ramsey was arrested late Saturday on suspicion of third-degree violence and making terrorist threats.

According to inmate records issued by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, a nearly $12,000 bond was made to secure Ramsey’s release on Sunday.

According to the arresting officer’s report, Ramsey accused the victim of forcing his vehicle to collide with Ramsey’s SUV’s front passenger-side tyre as the victim’s vehicle inched into a line of automobiles entering a parking garage at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

Arkansas’ football team had recently defeated Missouri State University 38-27.

According to the complaint, Ramsey is accused of punching through the rear window of the victim’s vehicle, a Subaru, and then pulling the man closer to him before punching and biting him. The officer stated, “Mr. Ramsey also bit the owner’s nose, shredding the flesh on the tip of the nose.” “The owner and the witness both heard Mr. Ramsey threaten to kill the Subaru owner.”

According to the report, bystanders separated the men, and Ramsey was arrested. It was unclear whether the victim needed to be hospitalised. In early December, Ramsey was named Beyond Meat’s new chief operating officer. He had spent over 30 years at Tyson Foods, the country’s largest meat producer, which is situated in Springdale, a city neighbouring to Fayetteville.

According to his Tyson bio, he spent the majority of his tenure at the company working in the poultry industry. He also oversaw Tyson’s business connections with McDonald’s for a while. Ramsey’s appointment was announced in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing on December 8, and a $450,000 “sign-on” bonus payment would have to be repaid if he and the company parted ways before his one anniversary. It indicates that in his second year at Beyond Meat, he will be eligible for an additional $275,000 in sign-on incentive cash. According to the application, his annual pay of $475,000 may be doubled with performance-based bonuses.

Beyond Meat is situated in El Segundo, near Los Angeles International Airport, and claims that the concept of ordinary yet powerful “positive choices” is central to their mission. Ramsey has not stated whether he moved to Los Angeles or works remotely from Arkansas. According to the police report, he lives in Fayetteville.
