PERTH – The Government of Western Australia has announced that a tyre recycling facility is being established in Perth with the view to feeding processed rubber into industries including textiles.

The plant, to be established in the Jandakot Airport Industrial Estate, is expected to process upwards of 9,000 tonnes of tyre waste and has been afforded AU$7 million (US$4.9m) in Commonwealth and State Government funding under the Recycling Modernisation Fund.

Environment Minister Reece Whitby, commented: “Projects such as this demonstrate the McGowan Government's commitment to innovation within the recycling industry. I am confident that this new tyre recycling project will benefit many Western Australians and our environment.”
