Envirogen, a leading international provider of industrial water treatment solutions and process filtration, selected NX Filtration for the delivery of its direct nanofiltration (dNF) membranes for an industrial water recycling project for a leading manufacturer of advanced materials and components in the North of England. This project follows previous deliveries of microfiltration and ultrafiltration membranes from NX Filtration to Envirogen. The customer was looking for an optimal and sustainable solution enabling them to recycle more than 75% of their wastewater stream. Envirogen piloted various technologies on-site and selected NX Filtration’s hollow fiber direct nanofiltration (dNF) membranes as the most effective and sustainable solution to remove or reduce key contaminants from the wastewater and enable the reuse at the customer’s facilities. The current set-up has a capacity of 45 cubic meters per hour and has been designed in a modular way, facilitating efficient future extensions to enlarge the capacity. Envirogen and NX Filtration previously worked together on projects related to microfiltration for a beer filtration application and ultrafiltration for a large industrial water treatment project in the UK. The customer was looking for an optimal and sustainable solution enabling them to recycle more than 75% of their wastewater stream Billy Denyer, European CEO at Envirogen comments: “We are pleased to expand our cooperation with NX Filtration from previous engagements based on micro- and ultrafiltration to their direct nanofiltration membranes. This dNF membrane is used as a single-step replacement for multiple process stages, including coagulation, clarification, sand filtration, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis. The system has a low chemical requirement and delivers significant energy savings, making it an excellent choice for surface water treatment, waste stream recycling and providing rejection of dissolved solids.” Gerard Ruiter, sales manager at NX Filtration adds: “We are pleased to continue and further intensify our relation with Envirogen. Having started our cooperation in 2020 based on our micro- and ultrafiltration membranes, we are proud to now also supply our most innovative membranes based on direct nanofiltration technology. As such we can contribute to an efficient and sustainable water recycling process for this important project in the UK. Water recycling is a very powerful tool in managing companies’ water footprint. Globally we experience growing acceptance for this sustainable circular economy principle. Our dNF technology is perfectly suited for both municipal and industrial water recycling.”

Tyre Recycling Forum at The Tire Cologne

The Tire, Cologne returned after a Covid imposed absence with a series of panels on tyre recycling. David Wilson from Retreading Business discussed the role of retreading in sustainability and its role in helping extend the life of tyres, keeping them out of the waste stream for as long as is possible. The second speaker was Dario Andreani from Chile, who brought with him his presentation on his T-phite graphite developed from recovered Carbon Black from waste tyres. Enjoy the full Tyre & Rubber Recycling...

The National Test Centre Circular Plastics Trusts in Lindner Washtech’s Modular Washing System

Europe’s first independent testing and research centre with facilities on industrial scale, the NTCP (National Test centre Circular Plastics), in the Netherlands, founded in 2018, has set out to examine the behaviour of different plastics during sorting and washing. The goal is to optimise processes quantitatively, qualitatively and with more efficient energy use, in order to promote plastics recycling in line with the circular economy model. Dutch and foreign clients are already showing great interest in...

In #miningindustry waste stream are often overlooked to recover valuable minerals to improve the yield performance. Drivers: Metal recovery for higher yield and #environmental regulations for discharge. Solution: A test was carried out in Sofi’s R&D facility in Espoo, Finland to assess the Sofi Filter’s performance in recovering very fine solid particles from ore concentrate water sample collected from a Nickel mine. Trial test was performed using Sofi SF200 with 1 μm screen. The filtrate...
